Frequently Asked Board Member Application Questions
What is the commitment for board member service?
We are proud advocates of healthy personal and work life balance. Board members meet every other month for 2 hours at an agreed upon time. All board members serve a two year term, but are eligible for re-election.
When should I expect to hear back from someone after submitting my application?
Thank you for your interest! Please allow 1-4 business days for a BF representative to follow-up with you after submitting your application.
How can newly selected board members expect to transition into their new role ?
We aspire to create a culture that supports current and incoming board members throughout their transition. Board member applicants will be notified via email and/or phone if they have been selected. Applicants will be invited to attend the next board meeting to ensure a successful transition. Newly elected board members will be sworn into office that meeting.
Is there a financial obligation associated with board member service?
No, board members are not obligated to annual financial dues. Historically, board members if able and felt led to have made monetary donations to the organization; however, board members are expected to assist in fundraising, applying for grants, and diversify funding sources to ensure the organization is able to fulfill its mission and sustain capacity.
Can board members engage in activities with program participants?
Board members play an invaluable role in making important decisions that affect the lives of those we support and the workflow for volunteers. Therefore, we encourage board members to get to know and volunteer with those we serve!
